Hold the Door. Keep the Flame Burning
To my queer siblings, both old and young, migrants, people of color, people of faith, women, and so many others who feel the weight of the world on their shoulders tonight and can’t imagine what the fight will look like going forward: I love you all. I see the pain. We’ve got each other. Let’s hold on to the belief in the good that exists. Hold the door. Keep it open for one another, for hope, and for the belief that better days will come.
Keep the flame alive, bright enough for others to find warmth and hope. We’re in this together. Let’s keep the light steady for those who need it most. We’ve held on this long, and we will keep going—together. Please, love each other, friends. Be brave and be kind. As someone who works with migrants and refugees, I can’t help but fear what the next four years might bring.
I’m exhausted, but giving up is not an option. My community needs me as much as I need all of you.
